Australia and Europe in conversation: 50 years of EU-Australia relations

50 years ago Sir Edwin McCarthy took up his position as the first Australian Ambassador to the EU. Today the EU-Australia relationship is broader, deeper and stronger than ever. But many challenges lie ahead.

Every month this year, two or three Ambassadors and/or High Commissioners from EU Member States, together with Australian Ambassadors to Europe, will gather at the ANUCES to talk about their country and why it joined the EU, their current position and how their country interacts with Australia.

There are two more events this year as part of the Australia and Europe in conversation series:

Austria, Greece and the EU Delegation
Date:  28 November, 2012 - 17:30 - 18:30
Venue: ANU Centre for European Studies, 1 Liversidge Street (Bldg 67C), Canberra

The United Kingdom, Italy and the EU Delegation

Venue: ANU Centre for European Studies, 1 Liversidge Street (Bldg 67C), Canberra

Visiting Scholar Laura Clarke has been filming the conversations series to produce a short documentary film.
